3 years ago... I remember driving home from an event with some of my friends and asking every single person what their takeaways were… what did they learn that would change their life?
*creating a space for them to share their breakthroughs and integrate them into their current realities…
1 by 1 they went around the car sharing, when it got to me they skipped over me and went straight to the next person :(
*I HAVE TO BE CLEAR- THIS WAS NOT BECAUSE THEY HATED ME LOL, OR BECAUSE I WAS QUIET- BECAUSE I AM NOT- IT WAS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO HOLD SPACE FOR ME.
Many of them made comments about “how far ahead I was” or how “I already live everything we just learned”... even if so I STILL HAD INCREDIBLE AHHAS and I STILL WANTED TO BE SEEN… TO BE SEEN…
Women who are always doing the work are incredible at finding the GOLD at events, during breakthroughs, and in everyday conversations.
I sat with this unseen feeling for a few minutes… kind of hurt but also understanding that they hung out with me because THEY needed someone to hold space for THEM- and I did that with ease.
When we arrived at all of our cars, we all got out to go our own way and ONE of the ladies turned to me and asked “Alyssa, I’m curious, what was your takeaway from tonight's event…” it made me realize that I TOO wanted others to care enough to ask and create a space for me...
